Fair Entitlements Guarantee (FEG)

Employees who have lost their jobs because their employer became bankrupt or went into liquidation may be able to receive financial help from the Australian Government through the Fair Entitlements Guarantee (FEG).

FEG is a legislative safety net scheme, with assistance available for employees who are owed:

  • Wages – up to 13 weeks unpaid wages
  • Annual Leave
  • Long Service Leave
  • Payment in lieu of notice – maximum of 5 weeks
  • Redundancy pay – maximum of 4 weeks per full year of service

Immediately upon cessation of employment, employees are recommended to avail themselves of the FEG operated by the Federal Government. It should be noted that this process can take some months before funds are advanced to meet the claims of employees and is only available should the company be placed into liquidation.

FEG Claim forms can be obtained by following the below link. It is important for claims to be submitted as if a claim is not submitted within the prescribed time the claim may not be considered by the government.
